Jack’s Bar
This is a neighborhood bar a block north of Japantown in San Jose. It’s the area where the city transitions to an older nice neighborhood where trees line the streets again.
The bar has been here for a while but it’s been renovated so everything looks clean and updated inside. They also now have this huge outdoor area that is tented with heaters that greatly expands the capacity. Everything is nicely set up for sports viewing.
They have Pliny and Mickey’s so they are offering up the full range of beer selection for their clientele. The whiskey selection is also surprisingly good and probably because it’s in an out of the way location some of the harder to find bottles are affordably priced. They have a menu provided by surrounding restaurants so you can order bar food there as well.
They are super friendly to dogs but no dogs inside. They even have doggy rules posted. Usually when a bar without a kitchen has these types of rules it’s because at some point some bad dog owner ruined it for everyone else.
I like how they are open early every day as a neighborhood bar should. It’s the type of place you would wish to be close enough to your house that you could regularly stroll to because it has a great comfortable and friendly environment.
